An American day camp in Madrid

The International Institute Summer Camp experience reflects the best practices of American day camps.  Campers experience a wide variety of physical activities in a fun, encouraging and safe environment. International games, cooperative learning and team building as well as unique and inviting movement-based activities will keep all participants engaged, socializing and motivated to move and learn!  The Physical Education component of the program will take place on site at the International Institute as well as local parks and open spaces in Madrid consistent with campers’ age.  Campers engage in theater, visual arts, robotics, 3-D printing, and creating a newspaper.   All activities are in English.  Students expand their vocabulary and rhetorical fluency as they refine their English pronunciation through constant interaction with American teachers who direct and guide them in exciting activities. Attention is consistently paid to language through play.  Weekly library activities with our librarian will enhance their reading skills.

College Prep: This flexible program combines 10 days of TOEFL or SAT bootcamp intensive  test preparation with community service credit through volunteer experiences at the Institute community or beyond. 

Our College Prep group will have one afternoon a week to unwind with vigorous and fun physical activity led by our Director, Stacey Wierl.  Campers may choose to only do the test prep module, or they may choose test prep plus community service and challenging physical activity.  In week three, campers will have the opportunity on an individual basis to work one-on-one with experienced SAT/TOEFL teachers on areas of the test where they are weak while continuing volunteering.  In week four, campers will  attend interactive sessions on how to apply to American Colleges and what to expect when they get there, led by American university professors.  Those who complete four weeks of volunteer community service activities will receive an official,  personalized letter of completion that may be included in their college applications

Drop-off at 9am and late pick-up at 3:30pm is available.
