The International Institute in Spain and American Space Madrid will host the first in our series of «Community Coffee Talks» with parents and community members: «Digital Educational Resources: A Parent’s Guide to Extending their Child’s Learning at Home». The talk will take place over coffee in the Library and will be facilitated by Sara Kells, a teacher from IIE who works with children of all ages. She will be introduced by Nicole Rosow, the Director of the North American English and Culture Program.
The Community Coffee Talks series has been organized to share trends from the fields of education and language learning with members of the International Institute and American Space Madrid community.
In this talk, we will explore some of the many educational resources available online with the aim of equipping parents to take a more active role in the academic success of their child. While all parents want their child to be successful, many don’t know how to help in that process. In this discussion, Sara will outline a number of user-friendly, easily accessible, and affordable resources that parents can utilize at home with their children. Additionally, she will demonstrate strategies to maximize these digital resources in order to make learning dynamic and fun. Therefore, your child will not simply be staring at a digital screen but rather engaging and interacting with the material for real world application and skill-building.
Upcoming talks:
April: Language and Literacy with Sara Durnan introduced by Ana Alonso, IIE librarian.
