As part of our Black Friday Week* program, we are pleased to invite you to:
Free workshop for parents and teachers: Third Culture Kids and Cross Culture Kids, Development and Identity, with Almendra Staffa-Healey
Many families move around the world these days, and some families include parents and children from different cultures. Teachers are likely to encounter students from other cultures in class. How do these children’s multicultural lives shape their experience?
Third Culture Kids’ (TCK) and Cross Culture Kids’ (CCK) childhoods involve living some part of their developmental years in other cultures or in other countries. This exposure to a variety of perspectives shapes their identities in such ways that their adult behaviors frequently involve viewing the world around them in more personal terms.
This workshop will offer an overview of what TCKs and CCKs are and how to learn more about them, and introduce what families and educators can do to further the development of these children. The session will include a question-and-answer session for parents and teachers.
Workshop will be in English.
Spaces are limited. Please sign up in advance.
*Black Friday Week: Week of free promotional events at International Institute. Returning and new students who register for a course in the English Program during the week of November 23rd to 30th (both days included) will receive a 20€ discount on their registration for the winter 2016 trimester.
